Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of GAAP principles. The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a critical role in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall efficiency of the department.
Responsibilities
- Process and verify invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain vendor relationships and respond to inquiries regarding payments and account discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal controls related to accounts payable processes.
- Collaborate with HRIS to manage employee-related expenses and reimbursements.
- Utilize QuickBooks and Paychex for efficient processing of transactions.
- Support governmental accounting requirements as needed, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations.
- Provide technical accounting support for various projects as assigned.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Paychex.
- Knowledge of GAAP principles and governmental accounting practices is a plus.
- Experience working with HRIS systems is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
