Job Description
Finance Manager Description This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s financial operations including lending practices and loan origination by ensuring proper fiscal management and quality assurance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices. This position reports to the Executive Director. Qualifications The Finance Manager must have a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices and be eligible and able to become a Qualified Loan Originator and loan packager within 90 days. This position requires strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and technical skills as well as excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. The ability to communicate with all socio-economic backgrounds as well as strong customer service skills are required. The ability to maintain a professional demeanor including discretion with confidential information is essential. This position requires the ability to do one or more of the following throughout the day: stand, walk, sit, bend and reach above and below shoulder level. Involves frequent repetitive motion (typing, filing, etc.). Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Financial Functions a. Oversee financial operations, ensuring prudent fiscal management, reporting and controls b. Responsible for timely fiscal reporting to include federal tax deposits, reports, w-2’s and 1099’s c. Record financial transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank statements, update financial statements monthly, and manage payroll bi-monthly d. Responsible for benefits administration including Simple IRA, workman’s compensation, employee file management, new hire reporting, etc. e. Responsible for financial reporting to the Executive Director and Finance Committee monthly, and as requested, including budget performance reports, profit and loss statements, and balance sheet f. Prepare entries to adjust accounts as needed, reconciles general ledger and all accounts monthly g. Prepare for and assist the auditor with year-end reports, records and trial balance for independent tax return and audit preparation h. Serve as a resource to the Executive Director and assist in planning, forecasting, and budgeting 2. Lending Functions a. Responsible for loan processing including organizing applicant files and expediting acquisition of documents required for final closing from homebuyer and title company b. Recertify documents (income, assets, credit) collected from homebuyers to reverify program eligibility; Analyze returned verification paperwork to note variances from original; c. Communicate findings to appropriate internal staff; Communicate file status and need for documentation to homeowners in a clear and concise manner; follow up as necessary; d. Co-assist partner family to address items that prevent re-qualification; e. Work with internal staff to ensure that partner families are on track to meet closing deadlines including completion of Sweat Equity and Homebuyer Education requirements; f. Schedule final walk-throughs and closing once file is cleared to close g. Co-create and maintain quality assurance/audit process to ensure that home purchase file documents meet funder requirements h. Communicate with internal staff, counseling agencies, grant agencies as necessary i. Process all paperwork for dissemination to internal and external partners post-closing j. Establish servicing of new loans with mortgage servicer k. Ensure professional and quality assurance at all stages of lending process 3. General Responsibilities a. Design and implement filing systems and procedures for record keeping which ensure security and confidentiality of data. b. Maintain annual certification and training as a loan originator and loan packager c. Maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices 4. Other Duties as Assigned by the Executive Director Required Education and Experience This position requires a bachelor’s degree (BS) or higher in accounting, business, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years related financial, lending or loan processing experience with demonstrated independent responsibility and successfully achieving goals and objectives is required. Proficiency in QuickBooks is required. The individual must become a Qualified Loan Originator and certified loan packager within 90 days.
