Working with Edges and Other Oil Painting Techniques

Join us July 30th from 10:30am to 12:30pm for “Working with Edges and Other Oil Painting Techniques” a workshop with James Overstreet! Cost $15/$25/$35* In this workshop you will learn how to manipulate edges between objects in order for them to flow seamlessly together. Through this hands-on learning experience you will explore techniques in oil-painting such as edge obliteration, underpainting, wet on wet techniques, brushwork and impasto painting. All experience levels are welcome, class size is limited: pre-registration is required. More about the instructor: James Overstreet was born in 1988. He is currently located in Cheyenne Wyoming working as a fine artist. Overstreet’s main focus is oil painting. Overstreet works in other mediums as well, including ceramics, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Overstreet obtained his Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in 2017. James has shown his work in various galleries and institutions throughout the western United States. “In my work I am constantly exploring the properties of paint. From color to brushstrokes and everything in between. It is a never-ending journey that I never tire from. Expanding my knowledge and learning new techniques is what keeps me going. It doesn’t matter if I am painting an abstract or a portrait, ultimately it’s about the medium and finding new ways to paint.” - James Overstreet *ART 321 programs are offered as Pay-What-You-Can What does that mean?
