On Thursday, November 9th, Thankful Thursday will benefit Wyoming Food for Thought Project. The event will be held at The Beacon Club from 5pm to 8pm. Thankful Thursday events are hosted by Rodeo Rick of Townsquare Media and they aim to raise money and awareness for charities that make an impact on Natrona County and the surrounding areas. There will be food and drink specials, a live auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a chance to win $500 cash. Wyoming Food for Thought Project is a nonprofit organization that seeks a local solution to hunger. One of its main programs is the Weekend Food Bag Program that feeds over 550 children in Natrona County each weekend. The program runs year-round and was established to provide children in need with at least three kid-friendly meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as various snacks and other additions, such as bagels, fresh produce, or bread for every day they are out of school and away from its hunger safety net. During the school year, the organization works with the school district through advocates in each school to target children in need that would most benefit from the program. During the summer, they partner with each Boys & Girls Club site, the YMCA, and the Rec Center to continue providing weekend food bags when school is not in session. All proceeds from this Thankful Thursday will stay local.
