On June 3, 2017 the fourth annual Run the Red Desert offers a unique trail running experience in Wyoming’s Northern Red Desert. Runners and walkers can enjoy 5km, 23km and 50km courses—each of which starts with a steep descent down a sand dune and explores the rugged terrain of the desert. This community race brings together locals and visitors alike—and many stay to camp in the desert, play in the dunes, or explore regional petroglyphs before and after the run. Bring your family and friends to cheer on runners and to enjoy a day in this remarkable desert! The Northern Red Desert contains countless opportunities for enjoying wild spaces, including breath-taking wild lands and scenic views, from the Wind Rivers to the Boar’s Tusk. Run the Red courses take runners though sand dunes, across sagebrush flats, and around Boar’s Tusk—a towering volcanic monolith. Race volunteers are hardy and enthusiastic and often personalize their aid stations to add to this unique landscape and race. The Wyoming Outdoor Council, the National Outdoor Leadership School, the Wyoming Wilderness Association and other partners and sponsors are proud to invite runners and their families to the Northern Red Desert on June 3, 2017. Registration for Run the Red is available at ultrasignup.com and more information is available at www.facebook.com/runthereddesert.
