Mahjong and the West, a film shot in Wyoming and produced by BCDF Pictures has a Casper premiere. Mahjong and the West is about a city girl named Maddy who returns to Wyoming to bury her mother and reunites with her childhood best friend with whom she shares a troubled past. Kate, a hard-living rodeo princess, takes Maddy on a downward spiral of booze, thrills and comforts with two local bull riders. But both soon realize that their reunion will force them to confront their shared trauma and either make peace with it or die trying. The film will screen at Casper College, Durham Hall 125, on July 6 at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). The screening will be followed by a Q&A with writer/producer/actress team Alyssa Carpenter and Jannette Bloom. The film was written by and stars Casper native Alyssa Carpenter, and features Wyoming talent in its cast and crew. As well as recognizable locations, such as the Jackson Hole Rodeo. Proceeds will benefit the Children's Advocacy Project. Tickets are $10.00 per person. Rating: Parental guidance strongly suggested due to strong language and sexuality.
